NYP Year 3 Semester

Last league of my polytechnic education. The modules include character rigging, games development, motion graphics and a handful of general electives. Motion graphics was the most enjoyable as it involved more art and creativity compared to other visual effects modules. We went back to primitive mediums like pens and pencils and even did a practical project using post-it notes, it was exhausting but Carolyn, Suzanne and Terra were a funny bunch which helped mitigate tiredness and stress!

I remember scrapping our shots of physical post-it notes as it was more tedious than we expected and opt'd for the digital approach where we use photoshop to generate the frames then edit the sequence in after effects. I felt relieved that we delivered it on time but guilty as it was the easy way out. I thought it would be good to go outside of my comfort zone and team up with strangers (Shirley and Natasha) from another class. It could had went better but I guess being new friends - there were a handful of bumps through the typography project!

Games development was a slight struggle, eventually Firman and Jing Yi pulled off the project and presentation with me disappearing to Hong Kong! Year 3 was a piece of cake compared to the other semesters, felt like a bum slacking 70% of the time. With Pamela in LA, I had so much time spent staring into space. I enjoy speaking to her over Skype in the morning although it was less than a dozen times, it was special and new. Was glad she came back safely!
