Week 01 Day 02, 12th June '11 (Sun)

Spent our first night in America, the cold morning and dry throat really kicked in and got me up early. Wasn't in my best form especially with the bad throat still haunting me... Our agenda for this morning was to drop by Ralphs (Super Market) located along Olympics Boulevard which is approximately 15 minutes walk from where we are.

Visit to Quiznos and Ralphs (Click for Hi-Quality)

I have to be honest, Quiznos is absolutely better than La Salsa which we had yesterday!
Saw creativity in the cash register over at Quiznos, it automatically shoots out the coin change to a small cup where the customers would grab themselves while the cashier just had to focus on giving back the notes. During lunch, I shared with the guys this robbery incident over at Quiznos, Orchard Central when me and Rap were eating... Long story so you can ask me in-person if you wish to know.

It helps to speed things up especially during weekend NTUC situations where families are waiting for their turn. Hopefully somebody would bring this up in the next parliament? Haha.

Talk about NTUC, another difference was Ralphs had such a short queue and you don't have to squeeze with people while navigating through the market. I guess the reason is Singapore is a really small country with dense population, too bad we'll have to live with it! Also signed up for Ralphs Rewards card as we foresee ourselves coming here pretty often.

Santa Monica Pier

Dropped off our stuff at home and headed out to town. The scale of the car park, beach, jetty & everything is huge, Singapore is definitely a small small country! I'll let the video do the talking for now.

This dude with the mine-detector device is moving around for lost coins, scoops the coin and filters out the sand using the tool in his left hand. Probably will hit it rich if every person on the beach drops a quarter, hahaha!

Bookstore
You almost don't see a multi-level bookstore in Singapore,. The one at offers pretty much what Kinokuniya offers like graphic design, storytelling, comics, toys, movies and music etc. Met a kid and overheard him persuading his mom, even had a short conversation. Check out the video!

Candy Baron
Loaded up on chewing gums which you don't see in Singapore unless you have a reason to buy them at the pharmacy! The place was ran by a lady named Tricia whose from Philippines, she's been in US for 5 years and opened this candy store 2 years ago? Was friendly and kind enough to let us shoot some photos. :)

Dinner time, ting ting ting
