Week 09 Day 62, 11th August '11 (Thur)

Problem Solved: Particle Collision
It had been haunting me the past 2 days and somebody on forum stepped in and solved the whole mystery! Because i had particles splitting from original particles, those splits are not being affected by the 1st "Collision POP".

All i needed was a 2nd "Collision POP" under "Split POP" to have them collide. Everything made sense, i felt silly but i guess everybody feels silly once in a while. Thanks to badhairday!

Here's the thread,

Second "Collision POP" helped solved the collision problem, splitting particles are now colliding correctly. You can also see that the splitting particles are in "splitted_points" group and is used in second collision pop.

WIP: Sparks Effect
Here I am working on getting the splitting particles in FG_SPARK to behave how i want. The network is built, i'm merely tweaking the velocity, gravity (Force POP), drag and scale of particles. My intention is to cache and render out multiple layers of sparks and put them together in post if time permits.

WIP: Smoke Volume
The settings i had for the billowysmoke material yesterday did not give me what i want. Changed the frequency, amplitude and turbulence parameters and fired off multiple renders.

WIP: Molten Shader
In the midst of defining the cool patches and also painting in alphabets "SE" to see how harsh i'll need to paint them so they are readable.

Gotten this result by pushing one of the parameters in "Smooth VOP" to extreme values, maybe i'll be able to animate that parameter and get a cool animation later.

Dinner takeaway @ Chinese Fast Food
This place is located along Santa Monica Boulevard & 18th Street (i believe). Stumble across the place on my way home and got attracted in by the word "chinese". They sell food like cutlet rice, curry rice and mixed vegetables items.

The lady was very generous with the food, filled the box over the top and it only cost me six bucks - may be because it's evening and they were going to call it a night. Still the food were decent, 6.6/10 for this spot!

end.
