Week 10 Day 66, 15th August '11 (Mon)

WIP: Hammer & Sparks Effect
I picked this up from Steven, implemented it into my scene.
Instead of manually grouping the points/primitives using bounding box etc, I have the hammer head transfer color (Cd) attribute onto a grid then use those 'colored' points/primitives as the source for POP_Network.

Cd attribute being transferred from hammer to grid

Grouping them by expression

Adding random normals using Point SOP, which will then be inherited as velocity later

The group is then used in "Source POP", under "Source Group"

WIP: Molten Shader
It was just the matter of time before I finished this. This should be sufficient to pull off what i needed, can always come back and make it better...

Was rushing to finish up this map so i could spend more time else where, this is finalized for now.

While working with the shader, a warning message appeared on one of the "Mix VOP", i didn't make any major change which might had caused that warning... After some time troubleshooting, it went away after i disconnected and rewired the nodes. It was definitely frustrating having to deal with such silly problems at a time like this!

WIP: Smoke Effect
Same strategy, fired a bunch of renders at low resolution and 1-100 frame range with different parameter settings. Meanwhile working on other stuff... It wasn't my preferred workflow, judging from the amount of work left to be done - this will save me more time!

I did some test with metaballs in irregular shapes rather than a rectangular block, the results were interesting.

Will pick out the smoke i like and use that same parameter setting for my final render of smoke.
